Balisi: $146.90 = boots

This purchase was made possible by my lovely mother, who wanted to ensure that my feet would stay warm on my commute to and from work (because apparently 2 pairs of socks just doesn't do it). I wanted a pair of boots that would be warm enough on the commute, but that look nice enough that I would still be able to wear at work and to ultimately avoid having to bring an extra pair of boots to work. I managed to find a pair at a cute little shoe store called Balisi just down the street from my apartment. I liked the fact that you could make them tighter or looser with the laces so that I could wear my fleece socks inside them for added warmth, while still being able to conveniently take them on and off with the zipper. Even with the 60% off, it was still quite a splurge for me (even if it wasn't with my own money), as my cap for any single item is slowly becoming lower and lower and currently hovers around the $40 mark. My super-human ability to find great sales has made me into a very cheap person. But sometimes if you want a quality item you've got to pay the price... or in my case 40% of the price.

What I got:
boots
full retail price: $325.00 (yowza!)
I paid: $130.00

Total savings (with tax): $220.35 (that's a savings of $25.35 on tax alone!)

Urban Outfitters: $11.29 = shirt

One of the awesome parts of a really good sale is that you probably don't even realize is that you're saving major money on tax too! Because the more expensive your purchase, the more the tax is going to hike up the actual price you pay. So there's actually like, hidden savings in sales! Sweet, right? Just some food for thought...
So this one was last weekend. The "additional 50% off all sale items" promotions are definitely something I get excited about and take advantage of. They have also made it possible to spoil the ones I love with little gifts every now and then, so I bought this for the boyfriend. He gets a nice shirt and I get to look at him in a nice shirt, so everyone wins! For $49.00 it wouldn't happen, but for $9.99, why not?! He even liked it (and why wouldn't he, I have great taste)!

What I got:
men's western button-down
full retail price: $49.00
I paid: $9.99

Total savings (with tax): $44.08

Urban Outfitters: $47.97 = 2 tops, 2 prints and a notebook

First off I'd just like to say that if it seems like all my purchases come from Urban Oufitters, it is because I walk past (or usually through) it every day because it is directly on my way home from work. They probably have the best sale section of any store, you can find some ridiculously good deals on some great items and they have a sweet return policy so there's no commitment! I think we've already established that I'm an addict, and they've got the goods. So ya... don't judge... it's a sickness!
Anyway, I was actually pretty proud of this haul. I remember it was last Friday because I felt entitled to once again treat myself for surviving my first whole week back after my long break! I didn't try anything on because I was too tired and lazy and I figured I could just try it on at home and if something doesn't work out I can always just return it. But I think I got some pretty awesome stuff for prettyyyyy cheap so big thrills and big reward! Yay!

What I got:
1. beaded chiffon blouse
    full retail price: $69.00
    I paid: $19.99
2. eyelet peter pan collar blouse
    full retail price: $59.00
    I paid: $9.99
3. "lets run away" print
    full retail price: $29.00
    I paid: $4.99
4. flowers and butterflies print
    full retail price: $29.00
    I paid: $4.99
5. "the vintage fashion journal" notebook
     full retail price: $14.95
     I paid: $2.45

Total Savings (after tax): $101.13

Urban Oufitters: $22.58 = boots

This steal of a deal happened about a week ago- I remember it was Monday because it was my first day back to work after our 4 week break and I felt that surviving my first day back after that long was deserving of a reward to myself. The 50% off all sale shoes lured me into the shoe section despite the fact that I have more shoes than I even wear and I came out with these bad boys. Still not 100% sure if I'm going to keep them or not but for $20 and the chance to return them for a full refund within 30 days and since they rarely have my size I thought, may as well just get them now and decide later! Plus that false feeling that I'm making money when I return things almost makes it worth it.

What I got:
boots
full retail price: $89.00
I paid: $19.99

Total savings (plus tax): $77.99

They called them "gold" but they look silver to me...

PS- In case you were curious about those shoes that I have and don't wear (and am therefore selling), you can check them out here!

PINK by Victoria's Secret: $13.22 = 2 tops

So this purchase happened last weekend during my trip to the mall. PINK usually isn't even a store I go into but I suppose the "additional 50% off sale items" sign was just too beckoning to resist. Plus they do have great underwear, and who doesn't love the feeling of fresh new undies (especially when they're on sale)?! So in I went in hoping to find something comfy and cozy but still cute to wear around the house, as when I get home after my long days at work, I generally slip into something a little more comfortable and a lot more schleppy-looking. I was immediately drawn to this waffle shirt and was completely sold once I saw the price. The tank top was a bit of an impulse buy but I guess you can never really have too many tank tops. And the neon pink made me happy. But would I ever have paid the full retail prices for these items? Hell no! Overall I was pretty proud of this purchase, I may have even told my mom about it (and it was really fun to carry that bag around afterwards)!

What I got:
1. waffle shirt:
    full retail price: $39.50
    I paid: $7.20
2. tank top:
    full retail price: $21.50
    I paid: $4.50

Total savings (plus tax): $55.71

Introductions

They say the first step towards recovery is admitting you have a problem, so here are my confessions. I don't know if maybe it was passed down to me through the generations, or if it's just a part of my heritage, but I have a full-blown addiction to sales. Maybe I just have no will power what-so-ever but I just cannot physically seem to pass up a good sale. It probably sounds insane but I get such a rush from getting something great for a fraction of what it's worth. There's no better feeling than knowing that someone paid full retail price for the exact same thing that I bought for so much less. I just can't bring myself to pay full retail price for things. It hurts me on the inside. And I know that eventually it will go on sale. As a fashion professional, my poison of choice is clothes, shoes, accessories, basically anything I can put on my body or wear in some way, shape or form. I'm starting to feel like justifying my purchases by saying "but it was on sale, so it's ok!" starts to lose something when every single thing I buy is on sale... so maybe if I force myself to document (and kinda brag about) all my purchases (and sweet deals I got!) to the interweb public then maybe eventually it will guilt me enough to slow down, or at the very least help others by passing along my vast wisdom on the subject of shopping. So here are all of my confessions (and shopping triumphs), I hope you will enjoy it (and be a little bit jealous at all the awesome stuff I got for super cheap)!

PS- As one may have guessed, due to my problem, my wardrobe quickly outgrows my closet space (and I do have quite a large closet...) but you can take advantage of my problem by buying my clothes! Most were barely worn and still in perfect or near-perfect condition, so have a look here!
